Job Description

Position Summary:

The Program Assistant provides essential support to the daily operations of the StriveCLT Afterschool Program. This role ensures smooth program execution by assisting with student supervision, activity preparation, and logistical tasks. The Program Assistant also plays a key role in creating a positive, engaging environment for students and supporting program facilitators, staff, and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Operations & Student Support

  • Assist in supervising students during activities, transitions, and dismissal to ensure safety and engagement.
  • Support program facilitators with preparing materials and setting up activities for lessons and enrichment.
  • Help manage student behavior by reinforcing program expectations and promoting positive interactions.
  • Provide homework help and academic support or tutoring to students as needed.

Logistics & Administrative Tasks

  • Help manage snacks and supplies, ensuring they are available and distributed efficiently.
  • Monitor program spaces for cleanliness and organization throughout the day.
  • Assist with program setup and breakdown daily.
  • Support staff and facilitators with data entry and documentation as needed.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with program coordinators, facilitators, and volunteers to ensure the smooth operation of activities.
  • Step in as needed to assist in any area, including substituting for facilitators or supervising small groups of students.
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions to stay informed and aligned with program goals and updates.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (some college coursework in education or youth development preferred).
  • Experience working with children in an educational or after-school setting is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace 
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing situations.

Schedule & Compensation:

  • Part-time hours during afterschool program hours (4:15 PM - 6:15 PM).
  • 8 hours per week (4-days)
