Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Design, specify, and develop automated manufacturing systems with an emphasis on improved efficiency and cost reductions of various business units. Complete continuous improvement projects in support of new and existing products. Provide daily engineering support to current automation and direct the technical efforts of technicians in support of assigned projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned)

· Identify, develop, document, and introduce opportunities to increase efficiency or implement cost reductions using automation in current injection molding areas (black molding and clear molding)

· Identify, develop, document, and introduce opportunities to increase efficiency or implement cost reductions for ferrule posting areas (black molding and clear molding)

· Identify, develop, document, and introduce work instructions and data sheets for current processes and new processes, both manual and automated

· Inspect product and processes to ensure product meets dimensional and performance specifications post automation sequences

· Repair or arrange for repair of equipment in the manufacturing area as required

· Work with other business units as required in support of additional automation projects

· Provide daily, mid-term, and long-term engineering support

· Retain ability to stay current with latest trends and technologies

· Provide process and/or equipment training to process technicians and hourly associates as required

EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

· Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering field, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred

· Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a medium volume manufacturing environment (injection molding, die casting, machining, assembly, etc.)

· Proficiency in maintaining highly sophisticated automated equipment

· Working knowledge of machining, tools, jigs, fixturing, and assembly practices

· Creative thinking, strong analytical skills, and excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

· Experience with 2D and 3D CAD for design and documentation of schematics, programs, components, and assemblies

· Experience with industrial software programming, such as PLCs, HMIs, and IoT controllers

· Experience with data acquisition and statistical data analysis

· Advanced PC skills with standard MS Office software

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to epoxy, latex, spray silicone, glass fiber, polishing slurry, machining fluids and isopropyl alcohol. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and hot surfaces. The noise level in the work environment is normal.
