Job Description
The Golden Plum Collective is a creative consulting and production agency that centers Black wellness, storytelling, and multidisciplinary art. It produces culturally rooted experiences and programming that amplify Black creatives while fostering community, embodiment, and collective care.
The Project
The Marketing Intern will support The Golden Plum Collective in promoting the Somatic Showcase, a production-based variety show highlighting multidisciplinary artwork from Black creatives in Charlotte. The showcase centers performance, visual art, and storytelling rooted in embodiment, wellness, and cultural expression.
The scope of this role includes developing and executing a marketing strategy to increase awareness, engagement, and attendance. Responsibilities will include creating social media content, assisting with campaign planning, drafting promotional copy, coordinating outreach to community partners and campus organizations, and supporting event branding and storytelling. The intern will also help track engagement metrics and adjust strategies to maximize reach and impact.
Learning Experience
This role offers hands-on experience in creative marketing within an arts and cultural production context. The student will:
Develop skills in digital marketing strategy, branding, and audience engagement
Gain experience promoting live events and creative productions
Learn how to center culturally responsive and community-driven storytelling in marketing
Build a portfolio of real-world marketing assets (graphics, captions, campaign plans)
Strengthen communication, project management, and creative direction skills
Additionally, the intern will gain insight into working with artists, creative entrepreneurs, and grassroots initiatives focused on wellness, identity, and community impact.
Outcomes
By participating in the Somatic Showcase project with The Golden Plum Collective, the student will develop practical experience in creative marketing and cultural production. They will gain the ability to design and execute a targeted promotional campaign, engage diverse audiences, and apply storytelling strategies that center Black creativity and wellness.
By the end of the experience, the student will have produced a portfolio of marketing assets, contributed to a successful live event, and demonstrated an understanding of how culturally responsive marketing can drive community engagement and impact.
