About Engage Art
Engage Art is a global arts organization based in Charlotte, NC. We support artists through educational resources, professional development, community-building, and opportunities to share their work, with a particular focus on artists whose creative practice and artwork are inspired by and engage with Scripture. Through digital programming, workshops, online resources, artist development initiatives, and collaborative experiences, we help artists grow in their craft, connect with others, and create meaningful work that positively impacts their communities.

The Project
The Web Development & Design Intern will support Engage Art in migrating its existing WordPress website to SiteGround and helping redesign the site to create a more warm, engaging, and user-friendly digital experience for our global network of artists. The project will include assisting with the technical migration of the current website, reviewing and organizing existing website content, identifying opportunities to improve site structure and navigation, and implementing design updates within WordPress. The student will work with the Engage Art team to understand the needs of our global artist community and translate those needs into an improved website experience. Scope of the project: -Migrating the existing WordPress website to SiteGround while maintaining current content and functionality -Reviewing the current website structure, pages, navigation, plugins, and content -Assisting with the redesign and visual organization of key website pages -Improving navigation and overall user experience -Ensuring the website is responsive and functions well across desktop and mobile devices -Identifying and resolving basic technical or formatting issues that arise during migration -Applying basic website performance, accessibility, and SEO best practices where appropriate -Collaborating with the Engage Art team to implement feedback and make final refinements -Testing the migrated website before launch to ensure links, forms, pages, and key functionality are working properly By the completion of the project, Engage Art aims to have a successfully migrated and refreshed website that better represents the organization and provides an improved digital experience for the artists and communities we serve. The student will gain hands-on experience in WordPress, website migration, web design, user experience, troubleshooting, and managing a real-world website project.

Learning Experience
The student will gain hands-on, real-world experience completing a website migration and redesign project from planning through implementation. They will build practical skills in WordPress, SiteGround, web development, website design, user experience, troubleshooting, responsive design, and project management while contributing to a live website serving a global community. The student will also work closely with a welcoming, collaborative, and hands-on team that values their ideas and encourages them to contribute creatively to the project. Rather than simply observing, the student will have the opportunity to help shape the direction of the new website, solve real-world challenges, receive feedback, and see the direct impact of their work. Upon completion, they will have a meaningful professional project they can reference on their résumé, portfolio, and in future job interviews.
