The Product Manager (PM) manages the entire lifecycle of core product lines, including decisions on extension or end-of-life, and drives the development of new products based on market problems. The role focuses on addressing customer needs and market opportunities to increase profitability in alignment with company objectives. Working cross-functionally with all business areas, the PM ensures successful product launches and sustained market performance of core products by understanding customer problems, market trends, and competitive positioning. The Product Manager will combine market research skills, technical knowledge, and an industrial design approach to develop solutions that address customer challenges, deliver value, and drive profitability. This role requires customer empathy, the ability to make quick, informed decisions, and the ability to be a thought leader, balancing strategic vision with attention to detail and the drive to turn ideas into reality. The Product Manager will be assigned a Product Platform(s) or Product Line based on the business's current needs. The responsibilities below apply to that assignment, but the PM may be asked to flex across different platforms or product lines as they progress.
Responsibilities

Manage the lifecycle of core products, including identifying opportunities for product line extension and obsolescence.

Increase product line profitability through strategic pricing and the development of new revenue streams.

Conduct market research and customer interviews to identify unmet needs and translate them into actionable product requirements.

Communicate market problems and expectations to guide engineering in creating solutions that address market needs.

Create and maintain a roadmap in collaboration with engineering and other Product Managers to align with company objectives.

Understand applicable markets, including customer needs, product applications, and competitor offerings.

Work with Market Development Managers to position products effectively in the market, including crafting core messaging, defining key benefits, and identifying target customers.

Collaborate with marketing communications to develop go-to-market strategies, sales materials, and promotional content.

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and supply chain, to ensure successful product launches and sustained product support.

Conduct beta and pilot programs for early-stage products, gathering feedback for refinement.

Manage product pricing, descriptions, and configurations in internal systems (e.g., SAP).

Provide initial product training to internal teams.

Provide support for internal teams by addressing additional product training needs and collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop and enhance training materials as required.

Support quality initiatives by ensuring product excellence, maintaining standards, and driving continuous improvement.

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field or equivalent experience

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Strong analytical abilities, including interpreting data, applying financial concepts, and making data-driven decisions

Experience interpreting technical documents and market research

Work Environment
The work hours are flexible, with options such as 9-5, 8-5, or 7-4. The role allows for remote work up to 2 days a week, though most Product Managers work in the office every day. The office environment is family-oriented with full benefits including health, dental, and life insurance, 401k plan, paid vacation/personal time and holidays, profit sharing, and tuition reimbursement. The company hosts team days, food days, quarterly meetings, town halls, a company picnic, and a holiday party in January. There are also community groups, book clubs, community service volunteer events, and service awards for long-term employees. The role is open due to a current PM being promoted to a global role. While there is not a significant amount of room for title advancement, the role offers growth through learning about different products and evolving within the company.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $85000.00
