Job Description
Job Summary:
The Detailing position at Jim Myers & Sons, Inc. (JMS) is a vital member of the Operations/Detailing Team and is a diverse high paced position. A Detailer is responsible for the development of drawings, plans, and other documents. This includes drawing layouts, engineering drawings, and detailed fabrication prints. The Detailer should be comfortable in a manufacturing environment and have experience with sheet metal components and multibody weldments.
Responsibilities include :
- Create detailed fabrication level drawing packages for projects that are visually appealing and functionally attractive
- Work with
Designer(s)
to prepare
detailed submittal packages on the same caliber as fabrication packages
- Work with the manufacturing department to support assembly of components per drawings
- Strong ability to understand mechanical equipment with high attention to detail
- Adhere to project schedule and specifications to meet the projects time objectives and milestones
- Maintain proper communication with departments such as, sales, project management, and engineering
- Ability to work effectively & efficiently with project team members on multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as logical thought process
- Travel to plant sites is minimal but could be required for field measurements, installation support and troubleshooting (Travel <5%)
- Follow all JMS, Inc. policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Must possess a minimum 1+ year(s) (3,500+ hours) of experience in 3D modeling with SolidWorks (preferred)
- Intermediate level 3D detailer and/or Certified SolidWorks Professional preferred
- Knowledge and experience applying drafting standards to fabrication level drawings
- 2 years of experience with creating drawings of weldments and assemblies
- 1 years of experience with 2D detailing in AutoCAD a plus
- Strong background of mechanical equipment with high attention to detail
- Strong communication skills including the ability to negotiate positive outcomes
- Experience with power transmission equipment including motors, gearboxes, chain drives, shafts & bearings
- Requires a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
- Desire to learn and to continue developing knowledge and skills
Desired Experience and Skills
- Knowledge of fabrication processes such as bending, punching, welding, machining, etc.
- Experience with the municipal water and wastewater industry a plus
- Experience with material handling systems (conveyors and bulk storage) a plus
- Experience with electrical power, instrumentation and controls a plus
- Experience applying GD&T is strongly desired or certification in GD&T is a plus
Education
- Certified Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Drafting/Engineering or other relevant field of engineering with equivalent combination of experience
