Job Description
- Provide housekeeping and building services for our residential students, visiting faculty, guests, and conference participants with the safest and cleanest environment possible. Utilize and properly maintain cleaning equipment, based on standard operating procedures, to departmental specifications.
- The housekeeping position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and assisting in the maintenance of buildings which complements the impact of student development goals of the department.
- Performs basic cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, dusting, waste removal, restocking restrooms, disinfecting/sanitizing, etc., to keep work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
- Operates and maintains basic equipment in the performance of housekeeping duties including motor scrubber, vacuum cleaner, backpack carpet extractor/ cleaner, industrial vacuums, floor buffers, water extractors, carpet steam cleaners, electrostatic sprayers, etc.
- Cleans and sanitizes daily to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.
- Cleans spaces of currently ill and recently ill students, to prevent the further spread of illness.
- Clean all fixtures, showers, floors, exterior of dispensers’ door push and kick plates, restroom receptacles, partitions, and rails.
- Monitors stairwells, entrance areas, and common areas for cleanliness. Dust mops
and damp mops as needed. Vacuum carpets in common areas and entrance mats as needed. Regularly checks for and cleans wall spots. Performs high and low dusting. Cleans hallway trash and recyclables receptacles. - Maintains an inventory of cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment to ensure appropriate levels needed to perform work. Responsible for cleaning assigned areas, public restrooms, public areas, trash rooms/areas (dumpsters/carts, trash room, housekeeping trash closet), and offices.
- Responds on an as-needed basis on weekends and nights to emergencies in the buildings, including but not limited to natural disasters, disease containment, equipment failure, and adverse weather.
