Job Description

Position Description:

  • Develops project design for various transmission facilities. Assists field personnel through the construction of projects. Reviews designs and documentation to ensure compliance with design criteria and standards. Schedules and coordinates major segments of complex projects to meet cost and time objectives. 

Essential Job Tasks:

PROJECTS: 

    • Performs engineering designs, analyses/evaluations and recommendations for transmission routing, new construction and facility upgrades. 
    • Prepares construction plans and specifications for transmission facilities.  
    • Prepares purchase requisitions, bid packages, and material orders to acquire materials, equipment, and/or services necessary for transmission r/w routing and line construction (new and upgrades). 
    • Performs bid analyses/evaluations and makes recommendations for materials, equipment, and/or services. 
    • Prepares necessary permitting documents and submittals throughout various phases of projects. 
    • Acts as the project lead for assigned projects by attending project meetings and managing design activities and material/equipment/service acquisitions to meet the project schedules. 
    • Openly and pro-actively coordinates with internal and external customers and other units as necessary. 
    • Ensures that all project records are maintained in standard project directories and within ECM timely and accurately. 
    • Delegates tasks as necessary to assigned team members and oversees/directs as necessary. 
    • Ensures that all projects are completed in accordance with approved design guidelines accurately and within the scheduled time frame.
    • Prepares estimates for transmission facilities. 
    • Leads in the investigation of design/material failures.

INNOVATION/CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: 

  • Takes initiative in seeking continuous process improvements through researching new materials, equipment, software, and engineering practices. 
  • Works with field personnel to become more familiar with standard materials, construction practices, and how the design documents are utilized.

STANDARDS: 

  • Utilizes unit CAD and design standards.
  • Participates in review meetings, interfaces with vendors, and follows all standard procedures. 

TECHNICAL: 

  • Provides transmission design and other related engineering services and/or technical assistance to other functional areas within the company and/or other utility partners.

LEADERSHIP: 

  • Provides technical direction and mentoring/coaching to a unit comprised of engineers and technical personnel. 
  • Acts as a leader and major contributor during project meetings, unit meetings, etc.

Position Requirements: 

Sr. Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university or college, along with effective communication and strong computer skills +8 years of directly related design experience is required. 
  • PE certification is required.

Compensation Information:

$104,620 -$130,770 (min. - mid.)

Engineer III

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university or college, along with effective communication and strong computer skills +5 years of directly related design experience is required. 
  • FE certification is required.

Compensation Information:

$93,830 - $117,290 (min. - mid.)

Engineer II

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university or college, along with effective communication and strong computer skills +2 years of directly related design experience is required. 
  • FE certification is preferred.

Compensation Information:

$84,180 -$105,210 (min. - mid.)

Engineer I

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university or college, along with effective communication and strong computer skills  required. 
  • FE certification is preferred.

Compensation Information:

$75,500 - $94,350 (min. - mid.)
