Job Description

Position: Analyst Co-Op, Health Services

Location: Hybrid in Miami, Florida

Expected Dates: January 6th - June 27th, 2025

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage provided

Location: Carnival HQ, Miami, Florida

Note: Students must be available for the entire duration of the program and willing to work a hybrid schedule, combining both in-office and remote work. This is a full-time opportunity, with interns working 40 hours per week. While hours may vary, interns can expect to work from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.

Project Introduction

Carnival Corporation is excited to announce a unique opportunity for Northeastern students to join our Health Services team as part of a workplace cohort program. The chosen project for this cohort will be the full stack development of a Heath and Clinical Risk Management Application. The scope of this application would be to help monitor potential health and clinical risks across the Carnival Corporations Medical Centers, which currently are more than 100+ floating hospitals equipped with ICUs, wards, trained physicians, nurses, and support healthcare staff, serving a population of over 12 million people each year in over 140 ports of calls.

This will leveraging the full capabilities of the Microsoft Power Platform environment to deliver innovative solutions, basing the work on currently existing solutions.

  • Expected Learning Opportunities
  • The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn and experience the full-stack development process .

    • Systems analysis and needs gathering.

    Work with medical professionals and other stakeholders in understanding the current existing solutions and future needs.

    • The Power Platform solutions , gaining a comprehensive understanding of its five core offerings:

    • Power Apps:

    Through Power Apps, the candidate will learn to build custom applications with a user-friendly interface and pre-built templates, enabling them to web applications. They will explore data collection, process automation, and how to connect apps to a variety of data sources for analysis and reporting.

    • Power Automate:

    In Power Automate, the focus will be on simplifying and automating repetitive tasks with automated workflows. The candidate will learn how to connect various services and applications, streamlining processes to boost productivity.

    • Power BI:

    With Power BI, the learning curve includes transforming raw data into actionable insights with powerful data visualization and analytics tools. This will enhance their ability to analyze and interpret data effectively and keep up with latest industry trends.

    Additionally, the program will cover advanced topics such as using formulas and custom updates in Power Apps, integrating Power Automate flows with Dataverse, and integrating SharePoint with Power Automate for more complex solutions.

    The successful candidate will also have access to guided learning materials and workshops to further enhance their skills and knowledge in building Power Platform solutions.

    • Project Management

    Work with project management tools such as ClickUp to keep documentation and monitor and track various phases of the development.

  • Desired Skillsets
  • We are seeking individuals with:

    • Self-motivated and driven with a keen interest in the full stack development process to solve complex problems.

    • A proactive approach to learning and a willingness to embrace the dynamic nature of the healthcare industry are essential.

    • Understanding of project management process , including keeping within timelines and expectations of Product Owners.

    • A foundational understanding of coding logic . A strong understanding of Python and SQL is desirable.

    • A strong understanding of data analysis and visualization , including data wrangling, cleaning and the ETL process.

    • A fundamental understanding and experience of Microsoft PowerApps and PowerBI is desired.

    (4) Expectations:

    The successful candidate is expected to:

    • Give weekly reports on progress of the development of the application to application to supervisors and Product Owners.

    • Deliver a minimum viable product of a Health and Clinical Risk Management Application for the Health Services Team

    • Presentation of the application to the Chief Health Officer and other leaders
