About the position

BRAC USA seeks an intern with exceptional communications skills and a career interest in strategic communications, digital marketing, public relations, or nonprofit work to help build brand awareness and mobilize resources for BRAC programs. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker, a fast learner, a strong writer and storyteller, and digitally savvy.

Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Intern will work as an integral part of the communications and marketing team, and will also liaise with individual giving, corporate and foundation partnerships, and business development teams. This is an exciting opportunity to learn from an enthusiastic team, take ownership of several independent projects, and gain deep experience across digital communications, public relations, and marketing at one of the largest and top-ranked NGOs in the world.

This is a paid, part-time, and remote internship. The hourly pay will be $16.00 per hour. The ideal candidate will be able to work 15-20 hours per week, preferably with availability Monday - Friday during business hours. his internship will begin on or after January 21, 2025, and will continue for 15 weeks.

Areas of focus:

  • Content creation – Source raw content and create stories, blog posts, videos, and other written and visual content to illustrate BRAC’s programs and successes; support curation and development of monthly email newsletter; upload content on BRAC USA website
  • Social media – Develop organic social media content, support management of social media calendar, and collaborate on social media strategy to promote stories, program updates, special events, media coverage, donor needs, and fundraising content.
  • Media relations – Support media relations goals, including through press release and pitch development, journalist and media landscape research, and measuring public relations efforts.

Qualifications

  • Academic undergraduate major in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, Public Relations, International Relations, or other related field preferred
  • A demonstrated passion for global development or nonprofit work and BRAC’s mission
  • Ability to manage tasks in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Flexible and able to work remotely, independently, and handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to adapt writing to a variety of audiences, from the technical to everyday
  • Some familiarity with communications or public relations (experience a bonus)
  • Some familiarity with digital marketing, such as social media, email marketing, or website management (experience a bonus)
  • Design and layout proficiency is a plus, particularly with Canva
  • A sincere and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion to promote and strengthen a culture of belonging at BRAC USA
