About the Internship

The Engineering Solutions unit is one of the key groups within the Engineering Operations Division of Engineering Department. The unit ensures Engineering continues to meet our Agency's goals, priorities and standards. Our primary responsibility is to provide the Department with technology-based support (systems, applications, dashboards, storage and workflows), data governance and the administration of computer hardware/software. Summer Interns can further enhance their academic acquired knowledge with hands-on experience working with current technologies relied upon for the design and delivery of Engineering construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and create content and apps within our SharePoint Engineering Intranet (EOL) and/or with Microsoft DEVOP toolset.

  • Work with the development team to test and perform minor application changes to existing applications (.NET Framework, C#, SQL, Power Apps).

  • Work with Engineering's SaaS solutions in our cloud environments - Trimble, Kahua, Azure platforms.

  • Work with our Process Automation team to identify and implement advanced "AI" enablement solutions using Microsoft platforms (Foundry, Copilot).

  • Help maintain databases and data warehouses to ensure data accuracy and concurrency.

  • Work with the HW/SW support team to support desktops, servers, and Azure working closely with our TECH Department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship

  • Major in Computer Science, Data Science or related discipline

  • Strong communication skills

  • A good team player

  • Good with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Familiar with programing language, such as SQL, C#, Python.

Desired Qualifications

  • Understanding of Microsoft SharePoint environment.

  • Familiar with Office 365 toolset - Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI.

  • Understanding and some experience working with AI technologies.

  • Some knowledge of Azure Cloud Services.

Internship Details

  • The start date will be Thursday, May 28, 2026

  • The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 21, 2026

  • This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)

  • In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business and regular in-office days or team collaboration days may be required depending on business needs. Some internships may require interns to be fully in-person.

Compensation & Benefits

  • The hourly rate range is $18.07 to $30.31 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
