Atkins Library is seeking an undergraduate student to serve in the Research & Information Services unit of the library for the 2024-2025 academic year. The primary function of this position is leading current students on tours of popular library spaces and resources.

This position will provide useful skills for anyone seeking future employment in a variety of fields, including (but not limited to) library & information science, communication, marketing, or education. Additionally, this position will provide students with an opportunity to learn valuable new skills and share input that will help shape library policies and practices. 

The student in this internship will work as part of the Research & Information Services team, providing support to fellow students in the following ways:

• Lead 15-30 minute small group tours of the library on a regular basis
• Assist students in navigating the library website, research guides, and databases
• Help students borrow and utilize technology resources 
• Provide 1-on-1 technology support to students
• Share feedback with library staff to improve workflows and processes 
• Participate in outreach and event development (may include social media communications)

Applicants to this position should be comfortable communicating specialized information to others, enjoy working with their peers, and provide excellent service. On the job training will be provided.

This position has the option of working 10 to 15 hours per week. Shifts are Monday through Friday daytime hours. You will be able to take time off or flex your schedule as needed, within reason. You will not have to work when classes are not in session, such as fall/spring break and holidays.
