Monarch NC, a provider of high-quality and trauma-informed care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness and substance use disorders, is seeking a dedicated Substance Use Counselor to join our Assertive Community Treatment team in Charlotte, NC.
As a Substance Use Counselor, you will assist and support the people we serve to develop skills, behaviors, responsibilities, and supports needed to live, learn, work and be integrated into the community with the greatest possible degree of self-determination and independence. You will assist in the development of natural support networks, provide individual and group supportive counseling, and monitor people's symptoms and medications. You will also link people with the appropriate services, agencies and supports in the community, monitoring their development of appropriate behaviors in their home and other community settings, teach them skills necessary for independent community living and facilitate them in the practice and transfer of these skills to their environment, providing support to their family.
To qualify, candidates must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:
- Candidates must have one of the following North Carolina licenses or certifications: LCASA, LCAS or CADC.
- Bachelor's Degree in a non-Human Services related field and at least 4 years of full time experience OR at least 8 years of part time experience working with adults with a mental health and/or substance use diagnosis, OR
- Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services related field and at least 2 years of full time experience OR at least 4 years of part time experience working with adults with a mental health and/or substance use diagnosis, OR
- Master's Degree in a Human Services related field and at least 1 year of full time experience OR at least 2 years of part time experience working with adults with a mental health and/or substance use diagnosis.
