Job Description
Reports to: A&P Faculty Director
Position Summary
Undergraduate teaching assistants (UGTAs) assist faculty with the administration of courses while being introduced to best practices in teaching and learning. All UGTAs are expected to meet with the supervising faculty member once a week, attend all class meetings of the course in which they are assisting, hold a minimum of two office hours per week, and complete other activities as requested by the instructor (approximately 5-7 hours per week).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop self-assurance through the responsibility of leading and assisting peers, fostering a sense of accomplishment and professional growth.
- Improve verbal and written communication by interacting with students, faculty, and staff, and by clearly conveying complex concepts and instructions.
- Serve as a knowledgeable and approachable resource for students, helping them navigate course materials, assignments, and challenges, thereby contributing to a supportive learning environment.
- Out-of-class work may include but is not limited to: office hours, tutoring, grading, developing activities, responding to emails.
