Carolina Youth Coalition is a non-profit organization that nurtures and propels high-achieving, under-resourced students to and through college. CYC was co-founded in 2018 and has served 580 students with 81% being first-generation
college students.
Department: This project falls under the Evaluation team at CYC. Our evaluation efforts ensure our programs
are effective, transparent, and are based on reliable results. The student would work closely with the Director of Evaluation.
Project Description: Data Input for the College and Career Readiness Self-Efficacy Inventory (CCRSI). This instrument is a 14-item Likert scale that measure a student’s strength of belief in their readiness to begin studies
in a career pathway and preparedness for success in entry-level post-secondary education settings.
Project Scope: CYC Fellows (students) complete both the pre-and-post CCRSI when entering and after a year of programming. Every year there are approximately 100 CCRSI submissions that need to be coded into our
database for analysis. During this project the student would code and manage any new submissions.
Student Demographics: Any student who is interested in data input, management, coding, and preparation for
analysis. This is independent, remote work that would require a student who is self-directed.
Student Benefit: This project is great experience in data management and evaluation. Students interested in public health, data analysis, or coding would benefit from managing our database and gain practical experience
that could be used for their next career endeavor.
Outcomes:
1. Code CCRSI student submission for fiscal year 2024
2. Input CCRSI submissions into master database
3. Clean and manage any data as needed
