Job Description
Experience with Film equipment strongly desired.
The Film Studies Equipment Room Student Assistant will support the management and operation of the Film Studies equipment room. This role is essential for ensuring that students, faculty, and staff have timely access to production gear, and that equipment is properly maintained, tracked, and returned.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily equipment checkouts and returns using the department’s inventory management system
- Inspect and test equipment to ensure proper functionality
- Help maintain accurate records of equipment usage and inventory status
- Perform basic cleaning and maintenance of gear (e.g., charging batteries, organizing kits, wrapping cords)
- Maintain organization and categorization of equipment
- Communicate with faculty and students regarding equipment availability and policies
- Report missing or damaged items to the Equipment Room Manager (Sidney Beeman) immediately
- Help organize the equipment room to maintain a clean, safe, and accessible workspace
- Assist with periodic inventory counts
- Will require some reception skills for the Interdisciplinary Studies office where the Film Program is located.
Schedule. Must be able to work during film check-in/check-outs and coordination of work schedule with the Interdisciplinary Studies student assistant. Film schedule will be prepared with your schedule in mind.
