About Brant Lake Camp

Brant Lake Camp is a sports-focused overnight camp for boys ages 7 to 15, located in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York, about four hours north of New York City. Founded in 1916, we're one of the oldest single-family owned camps in the country and one of a small number of camps where kids stay for the full seven-week summer. About 400 campers and 100 college-age counselors from across the US and around the world live, play, and form a community together for seven weeks.

The Job

At most camps, you're either a coach or a bunk counselor. At Brant Lake, you're both.

• Be a big brother and role model. Your most important job is the 8 or so kids in your bunk. If they go home telling their parents you were the coolest person they met all summer, you nailed it.
• Build relationships across your age group. You'll spend the day with a group of about 50 campers the same age, going to the lake and the fields, eating meals, and doing activities together.
• Coach and assist. Help experienced lead coaches and instructors run sports and activities, with opportunities to lead smaller groups and grow your own coaching skills.

Every personality fits here. We need the loud guy on the sideline and the quiet one having a real conversation with the kid who just subbed out. What matters is giving kids genuine time, energy, and attention.

What You Get

The Honest Part

Camp days are long, and this is a live-in role from mid-June through mid-August. It's less a job and more a full summer experience, and the counselors who dive in all the way tend to come back year after year.

Great fit for students in sports management, kinesiology, exercise science, education, or recreation, as well as anyone who loves sports and/or working with kids.
