HopeKids is a local nonprofit that provides free ongoing events, activities, and a powerful, unique support community for families who have a child with cancer or some other life-threatening medical condition. We surround these remarkable children and their families with the message that hope is a powerful medicine.
For this project, we are looking for a student to help us prepare for our Top Golf Fundraiser, which will take place in April 2025. This fundraising event will allow our chapter to raise the necessary funds to support our monthly events for over 220 local families that we support.
During this time, the student will assist us with creating fundraising marketing materials, conducting research on potential local donors and sponsors, and helping and learning how to seek sponsorships for the event. Additionally, the student will assist with planning specific event components, tracking attendees, and following up with donors and attendees. If the
student is available, they can attend the event as well.
This project can be completed as a hybrid. Some of the work can be achieved from their location and through Zoom. Periodically,
the student will meet with staff at a local coffee shop for in-person work.
The scope of this project will focus on some components of marketing, event planning and organization, donor stewardship, and communication through phone, email, and in-person, among others.
The preferred applicant is someone who is organized, able to communicate well with others, able to be creative, not afraid to make calls and talk with potential donors and supporters, and open to learning new things. Additionally, the student would want to work in the nonprofit
arena, making an impact in the community.
This project can be completed in 30-40 hours over four weeks. Working a few hours a week for a more extended period will allow for planning and following up on the above tasks. We can be flexible regarding the exact hours to accommodate our and the student’s schedules.
The student will benefit from this project because their support will allow our organization to raise funds for local communities. They will feel a sense of giving back. The student will learn how to work in a team, the important components of event planning, recording details, and follow-up skills. Many of the skills and tasks the student will learn can be applied in many
different work environments.
The expected outcomes include assisting our staff with the various tasks for planning a large fundraiser so we can focus on other aspects. As a team, we will be able to meet our goal of raising over $50,000, invite new supporters to the event, and increase our sponsorships with new sponsors.
