Job Description
OVERVIEW
The long established FLYERS Afterschool program works in partnership with the Fort Mill School District with the intention of creating a safe place for working parents to leave their children that encourages education, socialization, and outdoor exploration in a safe environment. Under the supervision of the FLYERS Director, creates and communicates programming for the designated FLYERS Afterschool and FLYERS Summer Camp sites for elementary age students. Continually engages with fellow staff members providing support, observing and interacting at the site level in order to produce the highest quality program and activity plans possible while helping to lead and build strong teams.
KEY FUNCTIONS
- Plan activities and programming for FLYERS Afterschool and FLYERS Summer Camps for designated sites (i.e. weekly activities, monthly field trips, and special events)
- Consistently meets with FLYERS Director to communicate needs of the FLYERS sites; collaborates how to meet needs
- Develop a positive working relationship with Site Coordinators at designated sites to ensure that programming provided is facilitated properly and that the needs and goals of the specific program are met
- Assist with facilitation of additional programming at the site as needed
- Open communication and collaboration with staff at each designated school and other Area Coordinators
- Work in conjunction with staff at each assigned school
- Help with special events on the Greenway as needed
- Understand and adhere to all FLYERS policies and procedures
- All other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Strong decision making, communication, versatility, initiative and human relation skills
- Above average interpersonal skills with strong written/oral communication skills and an ability to work with a wide variety of people and circumstances
- Understanding of the developmental stages of children; how to meet age appropriate needs through programming.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks

- Associate Degree in Child Development or Early Education preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- First Aid and CPR certification and Child Protection training; will train
- Valid driver’s license, ability to travel to different locations to deliver programming

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to exert up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects when needed. Most work is sedentary; it may be necessary to remain on feet for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 25 pounds and be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time on various surfaces and terrain.
