Job Description
T&T Construction Management Group is currently seeking both experienced and entry level Project Engineers to work in the Mideast Division in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. The Project Engineer’s role is to help facilitate the PM’s or SPM’s goals and is responsible for ensuring that the overall safety, quality, productivity, and financial commitments of the project remain consistent with company policies & standards while maintaining project scheduling thru coordination with project superintendent, field personnel and the Client.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Participate in an Orientation/Training period for Timberline Estimating and Timberline Accounting programs to gain knowledge of each specific program to subsequently enable the PE to extrapolate project information as necessary to utilize for certain reports, cost accounting and project documentation and effectively generate Purchase Orders, Work Orders and Sub-subcontract Agreements.
- Attend “Project Turnover Meetings” to identify key personnel for project management and administration purposes. Review project’s scope, plans & specifications to determine required product and material data for submittals.
- Organize job startup information obtained from the Turn-Over meeting or as directed by the Project Manager including verification of project physical address, obtaining the Safety Manual, Safety Data Sheets, Emergency Response Packet and OSHA Labor posters. Assist the PM/Superintendent with any other startup items as directed.
- Obtain Project Notice of Commencement or Owner Information and ensure there are complete copies of the Letter of Intent, Contracts and Estimates for the assigned project in the Project file on the server.
- Organize and setup onsite project receipt file for delivery tickets. Coordinate all vendor deliveries and sub-contractor work.
- Generate and send e-mails, letters, Submittals, RFI’s, Purchase Orders, Sub-Subcontracts, Change Requests and budget changes as directed by the Project Manager.
- Attend job-site meetings and distribute project meeting minutes, keeping all team members informed.
- Maintain & Track Submittal, Change Order and RFI logs as needed.

- Work with Project Management team to ensure that the highest levels of quality control are met. This includes but is not limited to: checking embeds placement and quality of concrete finish, collecting quantitative data of production units, monitoring pours, and concrete pre-pour testing.
- Follow up with the Project Manager on all open issues pertaining to the project. Attend meetings with or as directed by the PM.
- Scrub drawings ensuring the latest revisions are available to the production team. Maintain drawing log.
- Assist the PM regarding purchases and coding of invoices. Be familiar with the project’s job cost summary report.
- Obtain and file copies of the Project Daily Report, Toolbox Safety talks and other related training in the Project folder on the server.
- Coordinate housing, furniture, and utilities setup on Projects out of town.
- Assist the PM/Superintendent with coordinating all workers’ comp injury processes including return to work program, forwarding documents to the Safety Director and HR.
- Be familiar with the use of (PJ) Timberline’s Project Management module for the purpose of creating Purchase Orders, Sub-Subcontracts, Submittals, RFIs, Change Requests and additions to the project’s correspondence log.
- Add pertinent e-mail communication related to the project to Timberline’s project correspondence log.
- Assist the PM/Superintendent regarding to safety related matters on the project. Conducts daily safety walks.
- Familiarize with Timberline’s estimating module for the purpose of participating in estimating of future projects.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor of Science in Construction Management or Engineering preferred. Applicants with a degree in a closely related field and/or with significant work experience in this role will also be considered.
- Knowledge of construction documentation flow and general knowledge of construction, cast-in-place, and tilt-up industries is desired.
- Capability and experience in reading blueprints, knowledge of CAD, Bluebeam, Plan Swift takeoff, Sage Estimating, and BIM Modeling is beneficial.
- Must be well organized and have strong time-management skills.
- Exceptional follow-up skills are required. Candidate should possess the ability to adapt to change quickly.
- Possess organizational and communication skills. Communication skills include verbal and written abilities.
- The capability to think ahead, identify and resolve potential problems is a must along with the ability to learn quickly.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while splitting approximately half of your time on the job site and half of your time in office settings.
- Computer skills required include the use of Microsoft Office suite, familiarity with Timberline Accounting and Estimating is a plus.
- Must provide or be able to obtain OSHA 10-hour and CPR/First Aid certifications.
