Custom Residential Construction Project Management Intern

Position Overview
Springdale Custom Builders is a residential design + build firm based in Charlotte, NC. We are seeking a Custom Residential Construction Project Management Intern to support the successful execution of custom home projects from pre-construction through completion.
This is a hands-on learning opportunity for someone interested in residential construction and project management. You’ll gain exposure to the full lifecycle of custom home building while working alongside an experienced team. The intern will support the Project Manager(s) and field team with day-to-day operations, coordination, and administrative tasks to help keep projects on schedule, on budget, and aligned with plans and code requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesField Operations
- Assist with day-to-day on-site activities
- Support coordination of subcontractors and field personnel
- Help maintain job site safety, cleanliness, and OSHA compliance
- Observe and assist in identifying and resolving field issues
- Help track inspections, punch lists, and project progress
Scheduling & Communication
- Assist in maintaining a rolling two-week lookahead schedule
- Support updates in project management software (Buildertrend)
- Upload photos, track tasks, and document field updates
- Coordinate with team members, trade partners, and others as needed
- Assist Project Manager(s) with reporting and general coordination
Procurement & Financial Exposure
- Assist with material take-offs and ordering processes
- Support invoice review and basic job cost tracking
- Help with vendor and subcontractor coordination
- Assist with receiving and quality checking materials
Permitting & Documentation
- Support permitting processes and documentation tracking
- Help maintain current plans and specifications on-site
- Gain exposure to local building codes and compliance requirements
- Assist with post-project documentation and closeout activities
Professional Development
- Participate in training, team meetings, and industry events
- Learn about building systems, materials, and best practices
- Receive mentorship from experienced construction management professionals
Qualifications
- Interest in residential construction, construction management, or related field
- Prior construction experience preferred but not required
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn
- Positive attitude and willingness to take initiative
- Comfortable working both in the field and in an office setting
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office / Google Suite (Buildertrend a plus)
- Reliable transportation required
- Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs, walk job sites, climb ladders, etc.
