Job Description
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Student Involvement, the Graduate Assistant (GA) will support the development, administration, and assessment of programs and services that enhance the student organization experience at UNC Charlotte. The GA will assist with advising student organization leaders, coordinating leadership development initiatives, supporting the annual student organization registration process, and assessing student organization engagement and outcomes.
The GA will serve as an integral member of the Center for Student Involvement team and will help support over 400 registered student organizations through leadership development programming, resource management, and organizational advising.
Primary Responsibilities Student Organization Advising
The Graduate Assistant will support the advising and development of student organizations by:
• Conducting individual and group advising meetings with student organization leaders regarding leadership challenges, membership development, event planning, and organizational sustainability.
• Assisting organizations in navigating university policies, procedures, and event planning processes.
• Supporting conflict resolution and leadership transitions within student organizations.
• Providing consultations to organizations seeking guidance on recruitment, programming, and member engagement.
Leadership Development & Programming
The Graduate Assistant will assist in the planning and execution of signature leadership initiatives including:
• Student organization leadership trainings and workshops
• Officer transition and leadership development programs
• Student Organization Showcases
Responsibilities may include:
• Assisting with event logistics such as scheduling sessions, coordinating speakers, managing event registration, and day-of event execution.
• Supporting workshop facilitation related to student leadership, organization management, and campus resources.
• Collaborating with campus partners to provide leadership development opportunities for student leaders.
Student Organization Operations & Registration
The Graduate Assistant will support administrative processes that sustain the student organization community by:
• Assisting with the annual student organization registration process, including communication, tracking completion of requirements, and responding to student inquiries.
• Supporting the review of organization records within the campus engagement platform.
• Helping maintain accurate data related to organization status, leadership roles, and compliance requirements.
• Assisting with the implementation of advisor engagement initiatives.
Assessment & Organizational Development
The Graduate Assistant will assist with assessment efforts related to student organizations and leadership development.
Responsibilities include:
• Developing and administering assessment tools to evaluate student organization effectiveness and leadership development outcomes.
• Supporting the analysis of data related to student organization participation, engagement, and organizational health.
• Assisting with reports that demonstrate the impact of student involvement on student success.
• Identifying trends and opportunities to improve student organization support.
