Job Description

The Community Engagement Fellow is a temporary, part-time position that supports the Community Engagement Team during the 2026 midterm election GOTV season. Under the leadership of the Director of Constituent Services & Community Engagement, the Fellow works closely with the Community Engagement Manager to support voter engagement events, community outreach, trainings and organizational initiatives across the North Carolina Black Alliance and Advance Carolina. This role provides students with hands-on experience in nonprofit event planning, civic engagement, and community organizing while contributing to critical election-season activities.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support execution of community engagement and civic participation events.
  • Assist with volunteer and partner communications.
  • Prepare event materials, outreach packets and supplies.
  • Support voter engagement activities and election-related programming.
  • Manage RSVPs and registration for organizational and community events.
  • Assist with data entry and tracking participation metrics.
  • Coordinate with vendors and community partners.
  • Provide on-site support for organization meetings and community events.
  • Perform administrative tasks that support the Community Engagement Team throughout the election cycle.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university
  • Must reside in or be able to regularly travel to the Triangle region.
  • Interest in community engagement, civic participation, nonprofit leadership, public policy, or political organizing.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working evenings and occasional weekends during events.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Hours and Compensation Details:

  • Temporary Part time, Contract Position, September - November 2026
  • Up to 15 hours per week
