Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Provide technical support to US Conec’s customers and contribute to internal projects and activities associated with our component solutions, associated fiber optic termination and assembly processes, and training program. Frequent activities will include: hands-on termination and assembly of fiber optic connectors for evaluation of existing and new processes, trouble-shooting and evaluation of cable fiber optic assemblies, fiber optic testing and measurement, data collection, analysis and presentation, and laboratory equipment setup and maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):

· Collaborate with the Applications Engineering team members in support of internal projects and tasks

· Follow, with attention to detail, defined experimental plans while documenting steps taken when ambiguity exists

· Contribute to the US Conec Training Program through face-to-face and virtual customer training and support of the Training Program Coordinator through maintenance and care of the training laboratory and preparation of training materials

· Contribute to the customer technical support program through direct interaction with customers and execution of experiments and technical evaluations defined by the Applications Engineering team

· Support the US Conec Applications Engineering team through termination and test equipment maintenance and setup, preparation of product samples, and direct interaction with and training of customers

· Creation of technical documentation and process procedures 

Requirements

EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

· Knowledge of optical fiber, fiber cable, and / or optical connectivity

· Associate degree in mechanical engineering or electrical Engineering. Equivalent experience may also be acceptable

· General knowledge of data analysis and statistical methods is preferred

· Demonstrated prioritization, decision making, troubleshooting and organizational skills

· Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communications skills

· Ability to perform with minimal supervision and to translate verbal and written instructions into experimental data and product and process documentation 

· Self-motivated, flexible, have a positive attitude, able to succeed with several projects at the same time, work accurately under pressure, and a demonstrated ability to meet or exceed stated objectives
