Job Description
Position Summary
The Equipment Manager is responsible for overseeing the installation, operation, maintenance, and reliability of all production equipment within the facility. This role ensures that equipment performance meets safety, quality, and productivity standards, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to maximize uptime and optimize manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily equipment operation and ensure all machines run safely and efficiently.
Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Troubleshoot equipment failures and coordinate corrective actions in a timely manner.
Maintain detailed maintenance records and equipment documentation.
Lead, train, and supervise maintenance technicians and equipment engineers.
Assign daily tasks and monitor performance of maintenance team members.
Provide technical guidance and support for complex troubleshooting or repairs.
Manage equipment installation, testing, commissioning, and validation for new production lines.
Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal engineering teams to ensure successful start-up.
Review equipment specifications and provide technical recommendations.
Ensure all equipment complies with OSHA, NFPA, and company safety standards.
Conduct regular equipment inspections and enforce proper lockout/tagout procedures.
Participate in safety audits and incident investigations involving equipment.
Identify opportunities to optimize equipment performance and reduce downtime.
Implement lean manufacturing practices and root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies.
Recommend equipment upgrades and long-term capital improvements.
Manage equipment maintenance budget and control repair costs.
Oversee spare parts inventory and ensure critical components are always available.
Evaluate and negotiate with equipment suppliers and service vendors.
