Manufacturing Engineer Job Description: 

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for overseeing the programming, operation, and optimization of select machinery. This role involves developing and implementing manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, and ensuring high-quality standards in production. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in machine programming, a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.

Manufacturing Engineer Job Responsibilities:

  • Machine Programming and Operation:
    • Develop, write, and maintain machine programs for the Lazer and Bending Machines.
    • Operate CNC machinery and other metalworking equipment to produce parts according to specifications and drawings.
    • Set up machines, including selecting and installing tools and fixtures, and ensuring proper calibration.
  • Process Optimization:
    • Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste.
    • Implement lean manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure that all manufactured parts meet the required specifications and quality standards in collaboration with the Quality Department.
    • Address and resolve any quality issues or discrepancies in the production process identified by the Quality Department.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot machine malfunctions and perform necessary repairs or adjustments.
    • Coordinate with maintenance personnel for routine upkeep and major repairs of machinery.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of machine programs, processes, and operating procedures.
    • Generate and analyze production reports, including metrics on machine efficiency, and output.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to management on production performance and improvement initiatives.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and protocols within the manufacturing environment.
  • Collaboration and Training:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, production staff, and quality control personnel.
    • Provide training and support to machine operators and other production staff on new processes and equipment.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of new manufacturing technologies and practices.

Manufacturing Engineer Skills and Qualifications:

  • Skills in diagnosing and resolving machine malfunctions or technical issues.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance and routine machine upkeep
  • Proficiency in programming CNC machines using G-code or similar languages.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for generating and modifying machine programs
  • Ability to analyze workflows, identify inefficiencies, and implement solutions to enhance productivity
  • Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in interpreting production data and performance metrics.
  • Experience with reporting tools and techniques to monitor machine efficiency and output
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, management, and other departments
  • Keen eye for detail to ensure all manufactured parts meet required specifications.
  • Flexibility to adapt to innovative technologies, equipment, and processes as they evolve.
  • Willingness to learn and stay updated with advancements in manufacturing techniques.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Knowledge of safety standards and best practices in manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in using CAD/CAM software and machine control systems.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to [specified weight] pounds) as needed.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods and work in various environmental conditions typical of a manufacturing facility
