JOB TITLE: Plant Supervisor& HR SUpport (Night 12 hour) JOB GRADE: EX06

I. POSITION SUMMARY
The Plant Supervisor engages with supervisory staff to allow the supervisor to concentrate on operations of the technical leads and team members involved in production, assembly, fabrication, finishing or maintenance operations. The Plant Supervisor reports to Human Resources and will support the operations supervisors with human resource management. The Plant Supervisor will work with the current emergency coordinators to ensure proper emergency response. The Plant Supervisor will continually maintain operational awareness in all areas of the plant during their shift and have the authority to correct employees that are violating any NGK company and operational procedures.
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (The section is not intended to be an all-inclusive list and NGK Ceramics reserves the right to include other duties as assigned):
A. Observes all processes and manufacturing areas to ensure safe and efficient operations as it relates to Safety Productivity and Quality
B. Works with process supervisors to manage quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Support supervisor to continuously improve in all areas.
C. Assist the area supervisors to track absenteeism, timekeeping and Paid Time Off (PTO).
D. Supports the area process supervisors during the shift by assisting with employee issues and policy/procedure violations.
E. Follows up on Training requirements and assists the Training department with training evaluations and improvements to processes.
F. Resolves employee issues through the proper channels, utilizing successful conflict resolution methods and fairly exercising the progressive disciplinary process as necessary.
G. Manages area performance measures, targets and objectives; provides regular progress reports; and facilitates continuous improvement through Kaizen activities, cross-departmental teams, special projects and initiatives, as assigned.
H. Works to ensure positive employee relations and work environment through effective communications; addresses employee concerns promptly, through the fair and consistent administration of company policies.
I. Provides employee coaching and development by coordinating with the area supervisor to provide the time and resources available to meet identified training needs and approved developmental opportunities.
J. Supports all safety initiatives; adheres to and enforces all safety policies; takes the lead in accident investigations for the assigned area(s); coordinates immediate responses to workplace injuries; and works closely with guards on matters of plant security. Assists the area supervisor and the EHS department in performing accident investigations.
K. Will assist with employment decisions and hiring recommendations working in conjunction with Human Resources and the Area Manager.
L. Assist the area supervisor in working closely with other groups such as Quality and Production Planning to ensure proper inventory levels; and consistently meets customer quality and production demands.
M. Follows all EMS (Environmental Management System) procedures, including the disposal of waste and used materials. Reports issues and suggests improvements to the EHS management.
N. Perform multiple daily walk-thru of each department to indicate a strong presence in the management process. Focus on uniforms, PPE, no use of cellphones, earbuds, and other violations of policy. Support the supervisors in good time management.
O. Assist in workplace accident management and transportation to the medical facilities. Assist in reasonable suspicion processes.
III. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. The Plant Supervisor has supervisory responsibilities in the plant area(s), not to supersede the operations management.
B. Assists and leads during emergency events such as workplace injuries, employee relations issues, and determining employee movement when injured or ill.
C. Assists the area managers with managing supervisor PTO schedules to assure proper coverage across the plant.

V. REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required 5 years’ experience in operations management. Preferred 2 years in HR relations,

2. Minimum associate degree in business, management, or engineering field or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment. Prefer bachelor’s degree in related field.

1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
2. Ability to write reports and business correspondence including effective email correspondence.
3. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers.
C. Required Mathematical Skills
1. Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
D. Required Reasoning Ability
1. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to use Microsoft Office products effectively. Must learn UKG.
2. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
