Opening for two positions: Director and Assistant Director with similar responsibilities but different seniority.
Location: South Charlotte
Period: June - Aug, 2025
Job Summary: The Director / Assistant Director will play a critical role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and contributing to the success of our in person STEAM summer camps.
Key Responsibilities:
In-Person (June – August):
- Support day-to-day operations of summer camps, including setup, logistics, and clean-up.
- Supervising and manage camp staff and volunteers.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of campers by monitoring activities and addressing any issues.
- Serve as a point of contact for parents during drop-off and pick-up times.
- Coordinate supplies and materials for camp activities.
- Handle on-site troubleshooting and problem-solving to ensure camps run smoothly.
- Provide support for STEM/STEAM-focused activities, helping to set up, guide, and assist campers with hands-on projects in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
- Ability to communicate very effectively with parents.
- Should be able to jump in and teach if and when needed.
Qualifications:
- Strong intuition in anticipating issues and ability to develop a quick plan of action for resolution.
- High energy individual, very strong communication skills.
- Proven experience in administrative or operational roles, preferably in education, event planning, or a similar field.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Availability to be on-site in Charlotte during summer months (June, July, August) and flexibility for extended hours during this period.
- Background check clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with children or in an educational setting.
- Project management skills.
- Familiarity with camp operations or event coordination.
- Familiarity with STEM/STEAM concepts and activities, especially in a camp or classroom setting.
