Job Description

We are the leading provider of worldwide smart end-to-end supply chain & logistics, enabling the flow of trade across the globe. We are searching for a Business Process Improvement Lean Six Sigma Engineering Intern to join our Summer 2025 cohort. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in BPI projects, with a focus on optimizing processes within the supply chain. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing a degree in Engineering with an interest in Supply Chain Management or a related field. 

Important Considerations:

  • On-site role 
  • Location: Auburn Hills, MI (DP World does not offer accommodations throughout internships) 
  • Strong performance could lead to a full-time position after graduation 
  • 10-week program that will run from June 2nd, 2025 to August 8th, 2025
  • Department: Business Process Improvement

 

AREAS OF FOCUS 

  • Participate in one or more of Lean and/or Six Sigma trainings; will support training logistics, simulations and training exercises
  • Contribute to Lean and Six Sigma projects aimed at reducing waste and improving quality; may work on tasks like root cause analysis, implementing improvement solutions and monitoring results
  • Provide feedback to Lean and Six Sigma candidates on the real-life projects; may assist in collecting and analyzing data related to process performance, which include tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), conducting time studies, and using statistical tools to measure process effectiveness
  • Create and analyze process maps to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks and areas for improvement; involves gathering data, interviewing stakeholders, and using software tools for process visualization. (Visio, excel, PPT) 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS 

  • Must be a rising senior of a bachelor’s program in good academic with a minimum 3.0 GPA as of Summer 2025 
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics or a similar programStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with project management tools is a plus.
  • Eagerness to learn and apply new skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
