Job Description

Special Collections and University Archives at J. Murrey Atkins Library is seeking a social media curator/ambassador to research, write, and post social media content that engages with students, faculty, staff, and the citizens of the Charlotte-Mecklenberg region and beyond. The Special Collections and University Archives at Atkins Library is growing its social media outreach to increase engagement in all of these communities.

The ideal candidate will possess strong writing skills, a passion for history, and meticulous research skills and ethics, in order to transform the rich archival content at Atkins Library into engaging social media posts. We strive for historical accuracy, a sense of place, community, and timeliness, and a "wow factor" to engage our social media followers.

This position will work closely with the Digital Archivist, as well as the SCUA social media team, and other members of Special Collections and University Archives as necessary.

Required Skills
• Strong writing skills and clarity in writing
• Historical research skills
• Ability to use computer, digitization, and social media platforms

Preferred Skills
• Love of history
• Enthusiasm for social media outreach and platforms
• UNCC and local history knowledge

Work Duties
• Researching archival collections (internal and external) for post content
• Keeping up with the planned social media post calendar
• Write and post social media posts
• Other duties as assigned
