General Statement of Duties

The intern will have the opportunity to gain exposure to the town’s water and wastewater treatment plants, as well as its stormwater program. They will assist employees with a variety of tasks such as inspections, testing and sampling, laboratory analysis and regulatory documentation for the town’s Water Resources Department.

Duties and Responsibilities

Performs standard chemical and biological laboratory tests under supervision. Assists waste water/ water treatment operator on rounds to ensure proper functioning of plant equipment. Assists field environmental staff with sampling and inspections with sampling and inspections of a variety of facilities to help ensure permit compliance. Performs related duties as requested.

Minimum Education and Experience

Currently pursuing an associates or bachelor degree in environmental science, a natural science, (such as biology or chemistry), or engineering.

Special Requirements: Possession of a valid driver’s license preferred. Must be at least 18 years old to apply.

Hours: 30/week.
