Associate Engineering Technician (Water) - Civil 3D Designer/Drafter
Location: Charlotte, NC
Work Model: Onsite - 5 Days per Week (Local Candidates Only)
Type: Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Position Overview
We are seeking an Associate Engineering Technician to support civil site development projects within the water and infrastructure sector. This role works closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop high-quality technical deliverables for complex public infrastructure projects.
Under general supervision, the Associate Engineering Technician performs technical drafting and design tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of civil engineering principles, with a strong focus on site development using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation.
This is an onsite position based in Charlotte, NC. Candidates must be local to the area. Relocation is not available.
Key Responsibilities

Support engineering teams in developing and modifying civil design deliverables.

Create site development plans including grading, drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing, and underground utilities.

Utilize Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation to produce and update drawings.

Develop alignments, pipe networks, plan/profile sheets, sections, and proposed grading surfaces.

Maintain accurate technical documentation and ensure compliance with applicable standards and document control procedures.

Perform basic calculations such as material quantity takeoffs and dimensional checks.

Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to minimize design conflicts and ensure consistency.

Support continuous improvement initiatives and apply quality standards to all deliverables.

Begin providing guidance and mentorship to junior technicians as experience grows.
Required Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of related civil drafting/design experience.

Working experience with Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation.

Basic proficiency in Civil 3D, including:

Preferred Qualifications

Diploma or technical certificate required.

Associate Degree in Drafting, Engineering Design Technology, or a related field preferred.
