Position Description:

  • Assist in the design, installation, maintenance and twenty-four hour operation of Energy Management System (EMS) equipment, EMS software, and emergency equipment located in the Energy Control Center, Standby Control Center, and in our generation and transmission systems. Performs studies, calculations, and installations associated with various EMS projects.

Essential Job Tasks:

  • Assist where directed all support activities associated with EMS hardware and applications to ensure operation and compliance. These tasks are not limited to the following: 
  • Assist with any problems on the EMS and associated support systems. 
  • Work with EMS Engineering Engineers, Operations Support and Compliance Specialists, and associated Software vendors to resolve issues. 
  • Become familiar with the Monarch Platform (SCADA, FEP, AGC, ICCP, OpenNET), Historical Archiving (Oracle / SQL / Chronus), Design Studio, Advance Tabular Builder, and custom software (OpenCALC).
  • Support call-in and after hour work as required. 
    • Assist as a technical liaison between EMS Engineering, other Santee Cooper departments and other companies concerning RTU data discrepancies, field additions and field modifications. These tasks are not limited to the following: 
  • Provide excellent customer service. 
  • Assist in the coordination of dates, databases and checkouts to ensure projects are complete and on schedule. 
  • Become familiar with Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) programming and DNP protocol. 
  • Become familiar with utilizing a test set to diagnose issues between the EMS, communications, and the field. 
  • Become familiar with Engineering Design drawings and documentation with a focus on their application to EMS displays and associated documents. 
    • Follow documented processes, assist with documenting processes that are not documented and maintaining accuracy of existing documentation. 
    • Provide assistance to Operation Support & Compliance as directed to maintain compliance by being aware of NERC CIP Standards and following policies as they relate to EMS Engineering. 
    • Responsible for following all corporate and department policies, guidelines, and safety procedures while completing all mandated training requirements. 
    • Support & Maintain Santee Cooper's Transmission Outage Management System 
  • Ensure up to date equipment inventory data tables
  • Maintain personnel and user accounts accordingly 
  • Support & Coordinate updates as needed with vendor 
  • *Will consider Sr. Engineer, Engineer III, Engineer II or Engineer I

    Position Requirements: 

    Sr. Engineer

    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited college/university +8 years experience required.
    • PE license required.

    Compensation Information:
    $104,620 - $130,770 (min. - mid.)

    Engineer III

    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited college/university +5 years experience required.
    • FE license required.

    Compensation Information:
    $93,830 - $117,290 (min. - mid.)

    Engineer II

    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited college/university +2 years experience required.
    • FE license preferred.

    Compensation Information:
    $84,180 - $105,210 (min. - mid.)

    Engineer I

    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited college/university required.
    • FE license preferred.

    Compensation Information:
    $75,500 - $94,350 (min. - mid.)
