Job Description Overview
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is an operational unit within the
Department of Safety and Security at UNC Charlotte. EHS is a multidisciplinary profession that promotes the protection of the environment, human health and safety from the effects of occupational activities. From environmental protection to occupational safety and health, we provide the resources necessary to keep the campus safe.
What You Do
As part of your Intern experience here at EHS, you will:
ï‚• Immerse yourself in the day-to-day operations of our team
ï‚• Utilize technology to develop a Training Determination Tool to be used by faculty and staff
ï‚• Utilize technology to develop an institutional Compliance Matrix to support workplace safety reports

Our mission is to ensure compliance with occupational regulations and manage hazards that pose a risk to people, property and the environment.Our team develops communication tools and digital technologies that increase the campus community’s awareness of EHS safety programs.
Compensation and Schedule
Spring Semester: January 12 – May 16
ï‚• The intern position is for a maximum of 15 hours per week. Schedule can be flexible within the hours of 8am-5pm to work around class schedules.
ï‚• Compensation is $13/hr
Location:
ï‚• The EHS Office is located on UNC Campus. The intern would be expected to work on site at our office location EHS Facilities Annex 8 and 11.
