Electrical Engineering Intern - Power Studies

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Electrical Engineering students to join our Orlando, Florida (FL) office's Power Delivery team focusing on Power Studies! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Support the power electrical team to analyze systems, create software models, andwritereports for various projectse.g.commercial, industrial and generation projects

• Studies performed may include:

• Load Flow / Reactive Power Analysis?

• Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination studies using ETAP or any steady state power system tool

• Transient studies using PSS/E and PSCAD?

• Harmonic studies using ETAP, PSCAD or transient software?

• Partner with the electrical team to create calculations and drawings for various project types

• Continually gain knowledge in power & energy industry

• Assistwith project design, specifications, and plans support?

• Review work with quality in mind to confirm compliance with Kimley-Horn quality standards?

Qualifications

• In the process of receivingan ABET accredited Electrical Engineering Degree (Bachelors,Masters, or Doctorate)

• PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP,WinIGS, or CDEGS experience preferred?

• Understanding or willing to learn, the NEC 2020 and IEEE standards and keep up with emerging technologies?

• General understanding of engineering and energy systems?

• Load Flow, Coordination, Short Circuit, and Arc Flash studies basic theory andmethodology?

• Proficiencyusing Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD)?

• Proficient with Microsoft Office?

• Ability to work and manage several project teams concurrently?

• The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively

• The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment
