Job Description

Jacobs is actively recruiting a Na-Cho Nyäk Dun community member for a paid internship, offering hands-on experience and mentorship as part of the Mayo River Bridge Replacement Project. Currently, Jacobs sees the opportunity for a Na-Cho Nyäk Dun community member internship, which can be tailored, depending on the candidate's experience and the recruitment timeline. Jacobs will provide training in various aspects of bridge design and bridge inspection, to an intern who can take unique advantage of this on-the-job training. To support this initiative, Jacobs is reaching out to individuals and organizations who may be able to assist in our recruitment for the following Job Description.

Location: Mayo, Yukon (Hybrid)

Duration: Approx. 150 hours (flexible schedule)

Reports to: Jacobs Design/Management Lead

Start Date: Based on project phase and candidate availability

For the Mayo River Bridge Replacement Project, we are working to provide on-the-job training to support workforce development and reduce employment gaps within Na-Cho Nyäk Dun traditional territory.

Jacobs will hire a Na-Cho Nyäk Dun community member for a paid internship supporting the Mayo River Bridge Replacement Project. This role offers experience, mentorship from senior engineers, and exposure to real-world infrastructure delivery. The internship can be tailored to the candidate's skills, interests, and project timing.

This opportunity involves working closely with the Jacobs project delivery team, on various tasks depending on the stage of the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Review of submittals, emails, project documents, and review of draft drawings, design reports and summary tables.

  • Assist in estimating material quantities for cost analysis, including identifying local sources of materials.

  • Project coordination and communication tasks and attendance at design review meetings, progress meetings, and related tasks like preparing minutes.

  • Assisting in formatting and organizing documents for client submission.

  • Participate in progress inspections and surveys, and draft inspection summaries.

  • General job shadowing during design, based on interests and project status.

This opportunity is available to Na-Cho Nyäk Dun community members residing in Mayo or elsewhere, and can be completed remotely through a desktop computer, using online tools and virtual meeting attendance. Jacobs can provide a company laptop for this role, and the ideal candidate will have strong computer and communication skills.

Open to all Na-Cho Nyäk Dun community members. While students, recent engineering graduates, those interested in post-secondary studies, or individuals with construction experience are preferred, these qualifications are not required.

Strong interest in infrastructure projects and willingness to learn.

Proficient computer and communication skills, with the ability to work remotely using a laptop (Jacobs can provide one if needed). Familiarity with Microsoft Office is preferred.

Compensation & Hours

Paid internship , 150 hours total. Hourly rate is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Flexible schedule aligned with project milestones.
