Job Description

Fairfield Methodist Church (FMC), a theologically conservative independent Methodist Church in Denver, North Carolina, is seeking a passionate and relational Youth and Families Minister.  This role is responsible for developing programs and outreach initiatives that attract and engage young families in the surrounding community and discipling youth and families into devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

 The Youth and Families Minister will provide vision, leadership, and spiritual guidance for ministries serving young people and their families.  This individual will help cultivate a welcoming and vibrant community that supports parents, nurtures faith development, and encourages active participation in the life of the church.

The mission of Fairfield Methodist Church is to invite all people to become a part of God's family, and this role will play a key part in attracting, reaching, and discipling the next generation.

 Responsibilities:

  • Establish and communicate vision for youth and family ministries with clear goals and objectives aligned with the mission of FMC;
  • Attract new members to the congregation via programs focused on youth and young families, community outreach and community involvement;
  • Create a multi-generational approach to youth and family ministry and integrate youth and young families into the broader life of the church;
  • Organize and direct a team of volunteers to implement and execute programs and special events for children and youth, such as Sunday ministry, Bible study, Vacation Bible School, Summer Camps, youth mission trips, and fall retreats;
  • Equip and encourage parents to actively disciple their children and strengthen faith within the home;
  • Promote youth and family ministries through church communication channels and social media.

 Qualifications:

  • A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to Christian discipleship;
  • Strong knowledge of the Bible and the ability to thoughtfully engage cultural issues through a conservative Christian perspective;
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff and volunteers;
  • Ability to communicate the Christian faith clearly, effectively and relationally;
  • Excellent relationship-building, networking, and community-engagement abilities;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Comfort serving within a theologically conservative independent Methodist Church context;
  • Experience working with children, youth, and/or families (paid or volunteer);
  • Proficiency with modern technology and social media platforms;
  • Minimum high school diploma;
