Job Summary

The Risk Data Engineer/Analyst brings data driven approach to Safety/Risk by providing strategic insight and backend system to support to all Safety projects and performance. This role will entail wide knowledge of big data management predictive modeling, data mining, and using code (css and html) for enhanced user experience in Safety systems. This role will facilitate system interactions for optimizing and improvement of current data for dashboards, reports, models, forecasting and analysis. The ideal candidate will be able to think outside of the box for how to review current processes and system utilization to better approach needs of the Safety and Risk Management teams. This role is highly analytical and a successful candidate will be well organized, detail oriented with an interest in data analytics across a variety of tools (Power BI, Excel, Access, VBA, SQL and Coding).

Responsibilities:

  • Research, hypothesize and develop analytical approaches for identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets.

  • Create custom websites and online portals to offer new solutions for connecting safety initiatives, training and communications to our location employees in our various sites around the country.

  • Utilize big data technologies and solutions for generating solutions and enhancements of current reporting and analysis of safety metrics and reporting.

  • Uses data to build the case for making a change to current practices, programs, or procedures. Partner with stakeholders on the design, testing, implementation, and evaluation of process changes to improve business outcomes.

  • Develops, updates, and analyzes metrics to create predictive analytics/modeling by leveraging existing data and by discovering new opportunities to additional data collection.

  • Assist in monthly operational reporting both internally and externally that highlights company performance.

  • Ability to create and design forms and end-user views in existing Risk Management Information System (Origami Risk) to enhance the end-user experience.

  • Have a great teammate demeanor and continual improvement mentality to look for and introduce best practices across sectors and within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or Information Technology or commensurate working experience.

  • Solid skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Data Systems / BI programs (i.e. Microsoft BI (preferred), Tableau, etc).

  • Expertise in data technical skills:

  • SQL and experience related databases (i.e. MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL)

  • Big data technologies (i.e. Spark, Hadoop)

  • Big data warehousing solutions (i.e. Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery)

  • Proficient/Experienced in CSS, HTML, SQL, and other code writing.

  • Proficiency in data modeling techniques and methodologies.

  • Demonstrable ability to analyze, evaluate and interpret complex data into presentations and visualizations.

  • Self-motivated to learn new concepts and participate in multiple projects at one time.

  • Ability to build relationships and work multi-functionally with business partners and corporate safety teams.
