Exposure Project is a Charlotte-based nonprofit organization dedicated to equipping middle and high school youth with essential tools for career and character development. Through curated experiences, we aim to provide practical skills, nurture self-exploration, and foster a culture of hope. By offering hands-on career experiences, we empower youth to discover their
purpose and unlock a brighter future.


Position Overview
We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented Social Media Marketing Intern to join our team. This hybrid internship offers the opportunity to work both virtually and in-person at our space on North Graham Street in Charlotte as well as our off-site program locations. The intern will work closely with our Executive Director and Development Manager to help shape and execute our
social media strategy, engage with our growing online community, and promote our mission to empower youth in the Charlotte area.

Project Scope & Responsibilities
As a Social Media Marketing Intern, you will have the opportunity to:
● Collaborate with the Executive Director and Development Manager to develop a monthly content plan for our social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
● Manage regular weekly posting, ensuring content is engaging, on-brand, and aligns with the mission of Exposure Project.
● Assist with designing graphics and creating visual assets for posts, stories, and promotional materials.
● Monitor social media channels and pull reports to assess performance, track metrics, and present insights on what is working and what could be improved.
● Develop and share creative ideas to increase engagement, drive community support, and grow our online following.
● Support campaigns aimed at increasing donations, volunteer participation, and awareness of our youth development programs.
● Assist in the development and implementation of three major campaigns:
● T-shirt Campaign: Create engaging content and promotional materials to
increase community engagement and drive sales.
● Youth Summit Campaign: Collaborate with the team to design and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy, ensuring a successful event with a strong youth turnout.
● Food Truck Campaign: Develop creative fundraising initiatives and build
partnerships to secure financial support, helping Exposure Project reach its goal of purchasing a food truck.


Preferred Student Demographic & Qualifications
We are looking for students who have:
● A strong interest in social media marketing, nonprofit work, and youth development.
● A background or interest in communications, marketing, graphic design, or related fields.
● Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) and basic knowledge of analytics tools.
● Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) is a plus.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Creativity, initiative, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● A passion for helping youth and making a positive impact in the community.


Hours & Duration
● This internship requires a commitment of 5-10 hours per week.


How the Student Will Benefit
This internship provides an excellent opportunity for hands-on experience in social media marketing and nonprofit communications. The intern will gain insight into content strategy development, learn to design and create engaging social media posts, and understand how to leverage social media for community engagement and fundraising. The intern will also have
the opportunity to work closely with seasoned professionals in the nonprofit sector, expanding their network and gaining valuable skills for future career opportunities.
