STW: Niner Guide Leader (Hourly Wage Only)- Summer 2026

Job Description:

Undergraduate Admissions and the Visit Program are responsible for recruiting prospective students to maintain undergraduate enrollment. The Niner Guide Leaders perform operational functions in order to facilitate campus tours along with Summer Tour Guides. General duties for this position include providing campus tours and conducting daily tour operations. This team is also responsible for assisting with front desk operations.  Housing will not be provided with this position. 

Responsibilities:

• Perform the duties of Tour Captain, communicating key tour details with campus partners including Housing, Admissions Staff, Visit Staff, Front Desk Student Workers and Summer Tour Guides.
• Assist with Undergraduate Admissions by conducting check-in operations- for tours including welcoming guests to the University.
• Connect visitors with Admissions Counselors utilizing computer software programs such as Slate and NinerQ.
• Conduct check-in for prospective families visiting the University using Slate.
• Updates social media outlets such as Instagram so that the volunteer team remains informed about the University. 
• Researches and prepares special projects as assigned.
• Articulates the value of a UNC Charlotte education in a variety of forums.
• Other similarly related responsibilities as assigned or required.

Preferred Skills:

Must be a current or incoming Niner Guide Leader at time of hire as determined by Undergraduate Admissions.
A student in good standing with at least one (1) year of coursework.
Ability to relate to a diverse population with excellent communication skills.
Ability to deal with confidential material in a professional manner.
Understanding different learning and communication styles.
Ability to deal with high stress and fast-paced office environment.
Willingness to work for at least three, 2.5 hour shifts during weekdays and some Saturdays as available.
Preference will be given to individuals available during tour times below:
Monday- Friday: 9:00-11:30, 11:00-1:30, 2:00-4:30
Saturday: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Students with all day availability on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays will receive more hours.

Professional Development Skill Outcomes: Communication, Teamwork, Professionalism, Work Ethic. Tour Guides will work with students from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Tour Guide will need to be able to modify communication style based on the situation. Tour guide will need to remain professional at all times and be a positive role model for teammates. Tour Guide will need to work effectively as part of a team to meet the goals of the department. Responsibilities may differ on daily basis depending on the needs of the team professionals must be flexible, adaptable and dependable.
