After School Program Aide

Young Explorers Enrichment Center offers a part-time Program Aide position for its After School program at Southwest Stem Academy, 5203 Shopton Road, Charlotte, NC. This position is perfect for a candidate who is passionate about working with children. The ideal candidate has a working knowledge of Young Explorers' mission, purpose, and goals, along with childcare policies and standards — helping the program meet the highest standards of excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Supervise a group of children alongside a fellow Program Aide, remaining responsible for their overall health, safety, and well-being with careful, attentive supervision at all times.
• Plan and implement program activities that are engaging, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with Young Explorers' values.
• Cultivate positive relationships and maintain effective communication with parents, children, and other staff. 
• Assist students in completing daily homework assignments.
• Help record and maintain accurate student information.
• Supervise and monitor participants during hand washing and bathroom breaks.
• Supervise and monitor participants during indoor and outdoor programming and free play.
• Ensure the safe transportation of children.
• Provide appropriate First Aid to participants as needed.
• Set up nutritional snacks and clean up the area afterward.
• Clean up the program space after participants have left.
• Attend training sessions and staff meetings with After School leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and/or Site Coordinator.
