The Co-Op will participate in rotations in our Engineering and Project Management departments, to gain an understanding of different facets of MSS and our scope of work.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Work in a collaborative team environment under the leadership of the Engineering and Project Management Departments.
  • Learn to produce detailed layout and equipment details of HVAC systems.
  • Assist Project Engineer in determining project needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet all the customer's facilities requirements.
  • Develop equipment specifications and construction drawings and documents to ensure quantity, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc.
  • Assist Project Engineer in providing on-site engineering support for the project team to meet design intent, system requirements, and project milestones.
  • Assist the BIM/VDC team in the process of assembling organized sets of drawings.
  • Work in conjunction with designers and engineers to help develop all aspects of a project.
  • MSS will provide training for basic Revit operations and other MEP Fabrication programs used.
  • Learn to draft building systems with MSS Fabrication Database (Pipe & Sheet Metal) and create shop drawings, sleeve drawings, hanger point drawings as needed for field use.
  • Receive and transmit documents on behalf of the design team, either via posting to the website or the Internet or hard copy.
  • Learn to utilize plotters, printers, and reproduction systems used in-house or on the job site.
  • Download drawings and information from the Web, SharePoint, or project websites (FTP, etc.).
  • Assist in preparing copies and help make sets of documents for transmittal to other parties.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others.
  • Assist project manager in determining project needs, constraints and responsibilities.
  • Assist in the preparation of MEP assessments and reports.
  • Prepare conference call meeting notes and reports.
  • Review project scope of work and equipment specifications with Project Manager.
  • Assemble project closeout documentation. Create closeout binders and ship to customers.
  • Document work by maintaining and organizing files for each job in MSS database and central server.
  • Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an Undergraduate Mechanical, or Civil Engineering program.
  • Availability for two work cycles (or at least 3 semesters).
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently, changing priorities as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
