At Monarch NC, we’re committed to providing trauma-informed, high-quality care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness, and substance use disorders. We’re seeking a Substance Use Recovery Counselor to join our Community Support team in Gastonia, NC — someone who is passionate about walking alongside individuals on their journey to wellness and independence.

Work Schedule:

• Monday-Friday 8am - 5pm, with flexibility for evenings/weekends as needed, emergency on-call rotation

What You’ll Do

As a Substance Use Recovery Counselor, you’ll play a vital role in helping individuals develop the skills and supports they need to thrive. You’ll:

• Deliver evidence-based interventions for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
• Implement harm reduction strategies and programs addressing overdose, HIV, hepatitis C, addiction, and incarceration
• Provide education and training on mental illness, substance use disorders (SUDs), relapse prevention, and recovery promotion
• Support individuals in building self-determination, independence, and meaningful community integration

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for compassionate professionals who bring both experience and heart to their work:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Master’s degree in a Human Services field preferred
• North Carolina license or certification: CADC, LCASA, or LCAS
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with individuals with mental health and/or substance use diagnoses
