Job Description

Our client, a leader in enterprise technology solutions, is seeking a VP, Head of Engineering Practice to join their team. As a VP, Head of Engineering Practice, you will be part of the Engineering Department supporting cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have strategic thinking, strong leadership skills, and a passion for innovation, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: VP, Head of Engineering Practice

Location: Jersey City, NJ (preferred) or Raleigh, NC

Pay Range: $180,000 - $250,000

What's the Job?

  • Define and execute the engineering strategy for enterprise initiatives and shared services.

  • Facilitate engineering practice meetings with broad representation across teams, including Infrastructure and Security.

  • Champion engineering excellence and modern development practices across the organization.

  • Lead workgroups and guilds focused on key engineering topics with defined charters and deliverables.

  • Develop and maintain engineering policies and standards to ensure best practices.

What's Needed?

  • Proven experience as a Principal Engineer or senior technology leader with a strong hands-on full-stack background.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred).

  • Minimum 15+ years in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior technology leadership role.

  • Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and relational/non-relational databases.

  • Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures, API-first design, and hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
