Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own primary oversight of the provider settlements process including management of our loss contingency database that tracks potential legal settlements
  • Assist our operating costs accounting team with recording of management fees, property taxes, invoice accruals, and various projects
  • Own primary responsibility for completeness and accuracy of monthly membership files and recording into the General Ledger
  • Create and develop internal and external financial reporting
  • Look for and implement process improvements related to monthly reporting to drive efficiencies
  • Ensure the quality, reliability, and timeliness of the reporting requirements
  • Research and assist in the resolution of financial reporting issues
  • Evaluate and prioritize data changes and enhancements
  • Prepare documentation in support of internal and external audits
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation
  • Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position
  • Assist with or lead the month end close process for assigned businesses or groups
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports
  • Performs work in a self-directed manner and works with less structured, more complex issues
  • Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close
  • Prepare limited journal entries in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles
  • Collaborates with peers and leaders to complete projects

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related Bachelor's Degree
  • 1+ years of professional accounting experience and/or an Accounting internship
  • Intermediate proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Essbase experience
  • PeopleSoft experience
  • General ledger and monthly/quarterly close experiences
  • SAS programming experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates the drive and motivation to deliver high quality results based on thorough analysis
  • Advanced analytical and information gathering skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively to achieve results in a large organization
  • Prior experience successfully managing multiple requests, assessing priorities and achieving solutions under deadlines
  • Solid understanding of financial statements

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
