Job Description
Job Purpose
The Roadway Design Project Engineer will be assigned to our Roadway Design Team. The engineer would have opportunities to work on roadway design, pavement marking & signing, work zone/traffic control plans, sidewalks, multiuse paths and roadway engineering related tasks, supporting various project managers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with team members and agencies
- Providing design and drafting services for the roadway design team for the conceptual,
preliminary and detail design phases of a project - Preparing design drawings in accordance with various federal, state, and municipal
standards governing the design of roads, intersections, sidewalks, multi-use paths, etc. - Preparing design drawings using AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation, Geopak, Corridor
Modeler and/or similar type software - Preparing opinion of construction cost estimates
- Preparation of technical reports and deliverable file sets
- Perform of site visits
Qualifications for Project Engineer I
- Possess bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or transportation related degree
- Desire to work in roadway engineering and transportation design field
- 0-2 years of experience
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Detail-oriented, proactive approach to tasks, highly motivated
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCad is a plus
Additional Qualifications for Project Engineer II
- 2-5 years of experience
- Possess Engineer-In-Training (EIT)/Engineering Intern (EI) certification
- Master’s degree in civil or transportation engineering is a plus
- Ability to complete roadway designs and related tasks with minimal guidance
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Competent using AutoCAD, MicroStation and/or other computer-based design
