STW: Technical Linux Specialist

The OneIT College Support team seeks a student Technical Linux Specialist to join its team to support the College of Computing and Informatics. This role provides first-level support for our Linux workstations. You will work directly with system administrators to image, troubleshoot, and deploy the hardware and software used in our academic and research labs, gaining valuable, hands-on technical experience.

Key Responsibilities

• First-Level Support: Provide technical support for users of Ubuntu workstations, resolving software, hardware, and network issues.
• Workstation Management: Work with system administrators to image, configure, and deploy workstations in labs and offices.
• Access Control: Manage user accounts and permissions on local workstations to ensure proper access and security.
• Hardware Lifecycle: Perform hardware inventory audits and manage the lifecycle of computer equipment from deployment to surplus.
• Documentation: Document common technical issues, solutions, and procedures.
