Job Description

Summary

The Head Start Talent Attraction and Acquisition team is seeking an intern for Summer 2024. This virtual internship will be responsible for posting and supporting positions and creating talent pipelines to staff our Head Start classrooms and support services, including Teachers, Classroom Aides, Cooks, Custodial Staff and Bus Drivers. In addition, you will utilize sourcing activities through Indeed and other job board postings for recruitment purposes. This role will directly report to the Advisor, Talent Acquisition for Head Start, and will actively collaborate, communicate and partner to ensure shared visibility, situational awareness, and collaboration for Save the Children as an employer of choice for all.

What You’ll be Doing (Essential Duties)

Strategic Talent Sourcing (40%)

  • Support full-life cycle recruitment needs of Head Start operations (both exempt and non-exempt positions) under the direction of the Advisor, Talent Acquisition in partnership with Talent Attraction and Acquisition and other Head Start departments, and local leadership.
  • Support active and passive recruiting techniques in assigned markets, including social media outlets, attracting internal referrals, and cold calling to source and network with prospective candidates; as well as bringing other creative approaches appropriate for reaching a qualified, diverse and inclusive talent pool within our communities of service.

Applicant Screening (30%)

  • Model compliant applicant screening approaches to ensure thorough candidate vetting and selection ensuring that all presented candidates meet or exceed the competency and technical requirements for the role. Proper follow-up with each candidate is noted in the applicant tracking system in a timely manner.
  • Engage local Head Start Human Resources Managers and local staff to contribute regularly to the sourcing and screening of talent and to the retention of talent in order to minimize the number and length of staff vacancies.
  • Attend intake meetings as needed and post new recruitment opportunities via the applicant tracking system.

Compliance, Quality, and Documentation (30%)

  • Provide proactive regular reporting to both People & Culture and Head Start leadership to ensure situational awareness, analysis and recommendations around Head Start recruitment activity.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be an actively enrolled in an Associate, Bachelor, Master or other post high school education program, or have graduated within 6 months of intern program start date.
  • Possess strong written skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Currently eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in an area in human resources or administrative assistance.
  • Previous experience using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience using social media and community resources.

Classification: Paid Intern

Part-time: 16-24 hours per week (up to 8 hours max per day)

Compensation: $17 / hour
