Overview & Purpose:
The Hajoca Profit Center Operations Summer Internship Program is designed to provide interns with a comprehensive understanding of Hajoca Corporation’s Profit Center operations and business processes. Interns will rotate through key areas of our business over approximately three months – Warehouse, Sales, and Operations. The program will conclude with a final project & presentation to senior management which will focus on the intern’s ability to solve a real-world industry problem assigned by their PCM that is specific to their PC.
Minimum Requirements:
- Student enrolled in a 4 year university or graduate program
- Maintains a 3.0 GPA
- Must be at least a Junior in credits standing
- Has an interest in business operations, sales & marketing, or supply chain management field
- Has experience in customer service and/or team leadership
Internship Sections:
- Approximately Weeks 1-3: Receiving Phase
- Orientation & Training: Introduction to Profit Center Operations, company culture, and health & safety protocols.
- Receiving Operations: Learn procedures for handling incoming shipments, checking for accuracy, and inspecting for quality.
- Inventory Management: Understand inventory tracking systems, documentation procedures, and inventory control practices.
- Practical Experience: Assist with unloading, sorting, and cataloging incoming goods. Participate in daily receiving meetings and reporting.
- Approximately Weeks 4-8: Picking Phase
- Training: Overview of picking processes, including order preparation, packing, and quality control.
- Systems & Tools: Introduction to picking software, tools, and equipment used for order fulfillment.
- Hands-On Experience: Participate in picking and organizing orders, preparing them for shipping. Focus on accuracy and efficiency. Participation in deliveries to customer jobs sites.
- Approximately Weeks 9-12: Counter Sales, Inside Sales, & Outside Sales
Counter Sales
- Training: Introduction to counter sales; shadowing counter staff operations, picking products for fulfillment, following customer service protocols, building product knowledge, and transaction management.
- Customer Interaction: Learn to greet customers, assist with inquiries, and provide product recommendations.
- Sales Techniques: Shadow & practice upselling and cross-selling techniques at the counter. Understand effective sales strategies.
- Transaction Management: Gain experience with POS systems, process transactions, handle cash and credit payments, and maintain an organized and efficient counter area.
- Operational Skills: Support daily sales activities, manage stock levels, and assist with counter-related tasks.
Inside Sales
- Training: Overview of inside sales processes, CRM systems, and vendor/manufacturer relationships.
- Customer Interaction: Shadow inside sales representatives, assist with customer inquiries, and support sales efforts.
- Sales Tasks: Draft proposals, handle order processing, and follow up on leads.
Outside Sales
- Training: Introduction to field sales strategies, client meetings, and communication skills.
- Field Experience: Accompany outside sales representatives on client visits. Learn to present products/services and understand client needs.
- Sales Activities: Participate in prospecting, lead generation, and follow-up activities.
Branch/Operation Management
- Week 11-12: Operations Phase
- Training: Overview of branch operations, logistics, and supply chain management.
- Process Improvement: Learn about process optimization, workflow management, and problem-solving techniques.
- Practical Experience: Assist with daily operational tasks, monitor performance metrics, and support operational projects.
- Week 12: Branch Management Phase/Project
- Training: Introduction to branch management responsibilities, including budgeting, staffing, strategic planning, and overall branch performance.
- Leadership Experience: Shadow branch managers, participate in strategic meetings, and assist in decision-making processes.
- Capstone Project Preparation: Finalize and rehearse the capstone project for presentation to senior management.
