Principal functions: major duties and responsibilities
Assessment
The assistant director manages the assessment portfolio for OIP with specific efforts addressing international education and global learning impacts. The assistant director will collaborate closely with the OIP unit teams (Education Abroad, Global Education and Engagement, International Student and Scholar Office, and ELTI) to develop strategic data-driven assessment measures related to education abroad, global learning, international student engagement, and long-term impact global learning experiences on employability.
Annual Reporting and Strategic Planning
The assistant director will serve as co-lead in the ongoing implementation and reporting of the OIP strategic plan. This will also include leading the annual reporting efforts on the strategic plan guided by institutional effectiveness strategies. Periodically, the assistant director will also assist in the coordination of OIP-specific program reviews for the various integrated units.
Faculty Fulbright Engagement
The assistant director will co-lead UNC Charlotte's faculty scholar Fulbright program. This will include offering information sessions, serving as an adviser, serving on the Fulbright week planning committee, and also serving as a Fulbright Scholar liaison contact.
International Exchange Partnership Engagement and Reporting
The assistant director will assist the associate provost in developing, supporting, and nurturing relationships with UNC Charlotte international partners. This includes responsibility for planning and hosting visits of international delegations and dignitaries and to reaching out to international audiences of strategic importance, when appropriate. The assistant director serves as a resource for UNC Charlotte departments on matters related to protocols and best practices associated with hosting international delegations. The assistant director will manage the annual process for developing the annual exchange report activity as required by SACSCOC. This data-collection effort includes outward communication with international partners, campus stakeholders, OIP team members, and others, as needed.
Communications/Marketing/PR
The assistant director will serve as co-lead in the development and implementation of the OIP rebranding strategy. This will include close collaboration with the enterprise-level University Communications. In addition, the assistant director will serve as lead on all OIP outward communications, including Niner Times, Academic Affairs Digest, and other media outlets as needed. The assistant director will oversee the development of OIP brochures, posters, announcements as well as website content (text and photographs) while also managing the student graphic designer workflow and project assignments.
OIP Risk Management for Faculty and Staff International Travel
The assistant director will manage workflow related to the ongoing monitoring of US Department of State International Travel Advisory notices. In addition, the assistant director will manage the international health insurance enrollment system of the faculty and staff. UNC Charlotte
